Description
Dixit is a delightful and imaginative storytelling game where players use beautifully illustrated, surreal cards to spark creative interpretations and subtle deception. In each round, one player, the Storyteller, chooses a card from their hand and describes it with a word, phrase, song, or gesture, trying to be just vague enough that some players guess correctly, but not so obvious that everyone does. Other players then secretly choose a card from their own hand that they feel matches the Storyteller’s clue, and all chosen cards are shuffled and revealed. Players then vote on which card they believe was the Storyteller’s, earning points for correctly guessing the Storyteller’s card, or for fooling others into voting for their own card, resulting in a charming blend of creativity, empathy, and playful misdirection.
The Marco thinks:
This game offers a fascinating insight into how others think, which I find incredibly interesting. It’s a unique way to see how a concept that’s clear to you might be entirely different for someone else, essentially measuring how aligned or “alien” your thought processes are with others.
The only minor annoyance is the frequent need for players to lean in to see the cards, which can make the table a bit messy. This is especially true for players at one end of the table who might struggle to see cards positioned at the other end or in different orientations. Despite this small drawback, it’s generally a really good game and I like playing it.
The Lidia thinks:
This game is imaginative, fun, and incredibly interactive. It puts me in a state where I have to think outside the box and flex my creative muscles. Every single time I’ve played it, I’ve loved it.
