Description
Coup is a quick, cutthroat social deduction card game where players try to be the last one standing in a world of political intrigue and corruption. Each player starts with two hidden “influence” cards representing powerful character roles (like Duke, Assassin, Captain, etc.) and a small amount of money. On their turn, a player can declare any character’s action, regardless of whether they actually hold that card, aiming to gain coins, eliminate opponents, or block others’ actions. The core of the game lies in the constant bluffing and challenging: if a player claims an action and another player challenges them, the claimant must prove they have the card or lose an influence, while the challenger loses an influence if they are wrong. With only two influence cards each, and losing both resulting in elimination, every action is a high-stakes gamble of deception, deduction, and calculated risk.
The Marco thinks:
This is a game where bluffing is crucial, and it can certainly get a bit heated if players aren’t fond of conflict, as the ultimate goal is to eliminate others. However, if your group doesn’t mind that kind of dynamic, then it’s a wonderful, light game to enjoy!
The Lidia thinks:
It feels like you’re dealing with the Italian government.
