Description
Cascadia is a strategic tile-laying and token-drafting game where players compete to build the most harmonious ecosystem in the Pacific Northwest. Over a series of turns, players select a combined habitat tile and wildlife token, adding them to their own personal tableau. The core of the game lies in a dual-layered puzzle: players score points both by creating large, contiguous areas of the same habitat type (forests, mountains, etc.) and by arranging wildlife tokens (bears, hawks, salmon) in specific patterns dictated by variable scoring cards. This creates a compelling challenge of balancing the two goals, as players must make the most of the limited tile-and-token combinations available each turn, all while building a beautiful and unique landscape.
The Marco thinks:
A simple and interesting game, especially if you play it for the first time. The turns are fast, which keeps the game moving and engaging for everyone. I particularly love the nature theme, so building my own ecosystem feels really satisfying.
The Lidia thinks:
Cascadia is one of my favorite simple strategy games! I have played it many times and have not gotten bored of it yet. I plan to master it and beat the Marco someday.
