Description

Agricola is a classic, highly strategic worker-placement board game by Uwe Rosenberg, where players assume the role of farmers in 17th-century Central Europe. Starting with a humble two-room wooden hut and a farming couple, players must efficiently manage their actions over 14 rounds to plow fields, sow crops, gather resources like wood and clay, build stables, breed animals, and expand their homes. A central challenge, and a major source of tension, is the need to feed one’s growing family at each of the six harvest phases, often forcing players to make tough decisions between farm development and immediate survival, with the goal of creating the most prosperous and balanced farm to earn victory points.

The Marco thinks:

Unlike many strategic games where you pick one path to maximize, Agricola forces you to maintain a balanced approach and excel in the details. This might seem like a minor point, but it compels you to play in a fundamentally different way than you might be used to. It’s well-made, rich, balanced, and with a unique “pinch of salt,” making it a dish you’ll want to savor and master.
