Description
The White Castle is a tight, medium-weight Euro game that challenges players with a highly constrained and efficient action selection mechanism over only nine total turns. Set in the Himeji Castle, players manage resources, place workers, and strategically assign colored dice to different action locations on the main board and player boards. The core of the game is optimizing every turn by triggering powerful, chaining effects to climb tracks, gain prestige (victory points), and place figures into the three sectors of the castle, all while striving to make the best use of the limited dice available before the final scoring round. It’s renowned for being a brain-burning puzzle that demands extreme efficiency and forward planning.
The Marco thinks:
Big thank you to Jörg for gifting us this game! What I like the most about playing it is the drafting mechanics, where there are dice with fixed values in play and, in turn order, players have to choose which one they want to use. It’s really fun, but I advise you that there is a lot of thinking involved.
